Volunteer Hours Notice Sent Home Today
Dear Grade Two Parents,
Over the last little while we have started talking about communities. As a follow up activity, we each designed a puzzle piece based on our families and unique interests. We have talked about how each of us have been made in God’s image, but have been equipped with different abilities: both strengths and weaknesses. The puzzle pieces have been put on display and to complete it, it would be great to have a picture of each student sent to school which may be posted around the puzzle pieces as a reminder that we live together in community and what that looks like in our classroom. The picture sent to school should be a scanned version or another copy as these pictures will be posted on our wall.
On a different note, I would like to thank everyone who has expressed interest to volunteer this year. At this point, I have a few small jobs and it is all “take-home” work. I will write these jobs out individually each on a sticky note and then I will place them on the yellow laminated piece of paper by the front door and the parent bulletin board. I cannot guarantee how frequently these jobs will come up, but I will keep you posted via the grade two blogspot as that is the best way to notify you! These jobs will be claimed on a first come, first serve basis.
Thanks.

Memory Work
The memory work will be written out first at school in a booklet and taken home each night to practice. These booklets must be returned back to school each day as we will use them in other activities. Students will be tested orally on their memory work and it is a pass or fail evaluation. Students may however, make two mistakes (i.e. insert an extra word, forget a word) but any more than two, will result as a fail. Students will receive a small award every time they successfully recite three memory verses. It does not have to be recited consecutively in a row (i.e. pass the first two times, fail the third, but pass the fourth week = a reward). The recommended reading section is not assigned reading, it complements the Bible program & what we are studying each week. Please read the passages before reading them with your child as some require adult explanation even though they are reviewed at school first. | |||
